The Old Bangalore Photographs Displayed at Koshy’s: A Visual History of the City

Koshy’s Parade Café on St. Mark’s Road is more than a restaurant—it is a living part of Bangalore’s cultural history. For decades, it has been a meeting place for writers, artists, journalists, and long-time Bengalureans. Today, its walls tell another story: the story of old Bangalore through vintage photographs.

A curated collection of restored old Bangalore photographs is currently displayed at Koshy’s Parade Café, allowing visitors to experience the city’s past while sitting in one of its most iconic heritage spaces. These photographs document an earlier Bengaluru—its streets, architecture, people, and everyday moments—captured long before the modern skyline took shape.

The photographs on display are part of my personal archive, collected and carefully restored to preserve their original character. The intention is not just decoration, but documentation—placing Bangalore’s visual history within a space that has itself witnessed generations of the city’s life.
